On the 21st, Hyundai Motor Group announced that three of its in-house nurtured startups—Epic Car, H-Charging Lab, and 3I Solution—have successfully spun off as independent companies.
The three startups that have spun off are:
•Epic Car: Operates a platform providing information on eco-friendly parts to reduce repair costs.
•H-Charging Lab: Offers advanced charging experiences with PLC (Power Line Communication) module-equipped slow chargers.
•3I Solution: Develops industrial neutron element analyzers to improve production efficiency.
Epic Car provides information and cost comparison services for used and remanufactured parts that have no issues in performance and safety. Using such parts helps save energy, reduce carbon emissions through resource recycling, and lower vehicle maintenance and repair costs. In addition to recommending eco-friendly parts suitable for vehicles, Epic Car offers a service that handles insurance reimbursements for repairs.
H-Charging Lab offers enhanced charging services with its slow chargers equipped with PLC modules. Their slow chargers feature various functions such as PnC (Plug and Charge) for automatic charging and payment just by plugging in the charger, overcharge prevention by monitoring battery information, and charging reservation settings, providing more advanced features compared to existing slow chargers.
3I Solution provides solutions to significantly improve production efficiency by developing industrial neutron element analyzers. Accurate analysis of raw material components is crucial in industries such as steel, non-ferrous metals, and battery recycling, as it directly impacts quality and cost reduction. 3I Solution's real-time, comprehensive neutron element analyzers reduce the time required for component analysis and improve quality.
At the time of the spin-off, Hyundai Motor Group plans to invest approximately 100 million KRW in each startup's equity and will consider additional investments depending on the extent of future collaboration with the group. Furthermore, to ease the burden on participating employees, they will be given the opportunity to rejoin Hyundai Motor Group within three years after the spin-off.
A representative from Hyundai Motor Group stated, "We have selected and nurtured a total of 76 teams so far, and 36 startups have successfully spun off until this year. We will continue to actively pursue open innovation activities and strive to discover and commercialize innovative and creative ideas from our employees across various fields."
