HMG In-House Startup 3I Solution Unveils Industrial Neutron Element Analyzer at Demo Day
On August 9th, HMG's in-house startup 3I Solution held a Demo Day and unveiled its industrial neutron element analyzer.
This project began in 2018 when the company reviewed technology to improve the grading of steel scrap. 3I Solution was selected for Hyundai Motor Group's startup team in 2021, recognized for its business potential. After over two years of research and development, the company completed performance verification of the element analyzer and is set to spin off this year. The name '3I Solution' stands for Innovation of Invisible Inspection.
The newly developed neutron element analyzer is a device that analyzes the composition of raw materials using the unique gamma rays emitted when elements react with neutrons. Using the neutron element analyzer, comprehensive inspection of raw materials during transportation is possible, and the real-time data generated can be applied to operational processes to improve production efficiency. Previously, the process of analyzing the composition of iron ore and steel scrap took an average of eight hours, from raw material sampling to inspection.
Additionally, the development of a product for analyzing the components of black powder from used batteries is in the final stages. This product will be applied to the rapidly growing secondary battery recycling industry.
The company is considering the field implementation of 3I Solution's neutron element analyzer. Through this, it aims to derive optimal raw material blending ratios and pre-predict the usage of auxiliary materials to secure cost competitiveness. The analyzer is also expected to be applicable to the analysis of high-grade steel scrap, which is anticipated to see increased demand due to the transition to a carbon-neutral production system.
